  • Keep sod consistently moist but avoid standing water
  • Limit foot traffic during establishment
  • Reduce watering to once daily, deep soaking preferred.
  • Test root establishment by gently tugging on corners.
  • First mow when grass reaches 3 – 4 inches; remove no more than 1/3 blade height.
  • Water deeply 1 – 2 times per week depending on rainfall (about 1 – 1.5 inches total weekly).
  • Maintain mowing height between 2.5 – 3.5 inches.
  • Sharpen mower blades regularly to prevent disease.
  • Early Spring (March – April) – Light balanced fertilizer.
  • Late Spring (May) – Nitrogen application growth boost.
  • Early Fall (September) – Balanced fertilizer for root strength.
  • Late Fall (October – November) – Winterizer fertilizer for strong spring green-up.
  • Avoid heavy foot traffic on frozen turf.
  • Keep lawn clear of heavy leaf buildup in fall.
  • Ensure proper drainage before winter to prevent ice damage.
  • Water early morning (5am – 9am) to reduce fungus risk.
  • Increase mowing height slightly during hot months.
  • Watch for signs of heat stress (wilting, bluish-gray tint).
